About

One of several primitive, first-come, first-served campgrounds along the Colorado River corridor between Glen Canyon Dam and Lees Ferry, within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

Overview

Beehives is one of five designated primitive camping areas along the Colorado River between Glen Canyon Dam and Lees Ferry, first-come, first-served with a 14-day limit. No fee is required beyond the park entrance and vessel-use fees; toilets and fire pits are provided at upriver sites. These campgrounds don't take reservations or phone bookings — pay online, but it doesn't reserve a specific site.

Still has that new vault toilet smell. Sat images show a barren desert but there is a new gravel road and level gravel pads a stones throw from 89. Fire pit, table and awesome views. Wave or no wave the beehive trail is super keen. There is some highway noise but I don't mind it and I am camped in the spot closest to the road. There is enough 5G service to melt your face and all my vices are just minutes away in Page. The " goatheads " or puncturevine vary from site to site. I picked up 25 of the spiky little things in the bottom of my shoe in the first 2 minutes but then the dog and I have hiked for miles around and we have only picked up one or two. Too bad it has a 3 day limit. I'd move in. I haven't seen any signs that say to stay on the trail. It's not really an official trail anyway. Climb around, explore or you will miss a ton of cool stuff. Don't do anything stupid and be careful on the slippery sandstone.

Very clean campground right across from a cool hike. Has clean vault toilets, dumpster, nice concrete picnic tables and fire rings. 21 sites should accommodate most rigs, but only one pull through. Super convenient to town. Right off the highway, but amazing views and not too noisy. 3 night max, $14/night or $7/night with interagency pass

Great little boondocking campground. Sights are sufficient sizes with a table and fire ring. Close to the highway for easy access but you will hear road noise.

Nice campground. Good views. Hiking trails to New Wave. It is true there are goathead stickers.

Rolled in late at night. Easy to find. Quiet, convenient, clean pit bathroom. No complaints! I'd stay there again. Great sunrise.
