An old-West saloon on the Arizona-Utah line near Kanab
Buckskin Tavern sits right on the Arizona-Utah line in Fredonia, a few minutes from Kanab and about 80 miles south of the North Rim on Highway 89A — a solid stop before or after a day at the canyon. It's a genuine bar-first spot: full liquor service, a rotating selection of craft brews, free pool tables, and a patio view out back, with 4.6 stars from 285 reviews on Google. Unlike Utah establishments across the border, you don't have to order food to get a drink here, which locals and travelers both mention as a relief after a day of park rules and dry counties.
The kitchen turns out solid bar food — reviewers single out the burger and the cowboy casserole — at reasonable prices, and the room leans old-West saloon decor with a genuinely welcoming, inclusive crowd. Karaoke and live bands show up on weekend nights, and the tavern runs regular theme nights through the week.

If you sit at the part of the bar where the band is, you won't see a bartender. No idea why. Friendly folks though.

We found this place while camping in the area and loved it. We made it for happy hour which made it even better. The owner was awesome and we really enjoyed talking with him. We had hope to visit this tavern again before leaving the area and maybe even attending an event but unfortunately it did not work out. If back in the area, we would surely visit again.

They should have it posted that you need to be 21 to enter before we drove 45 minutes for some food lol

We had time to kill so we stopped by Buckskin Tavern. "The longest continuous bar". Our bartender-ess was Tess, who was amazing and hilarious. A type of humor you really have to get, but kind as can be! The service was top-notch. They have an amazing backyard with a stage, lots of seating, a backyard bar, and games!! The atmosphere was welcoming and quiet (we went at 1:30ish). It's not a "walk in and we stare at you" bar- very open to all kinds! BEWARE, they're in AZ but run on UT time (haha, I got confused for a hot minute). They also have a FREE shuttle that runs from Kanab to the bar and back (no DWI/DUIs here). Definitely going back for Karaoke! Check em out!!
