Downtown Flagstaff craft beer with a kitchen that pulls its weight

About

Downtown Flagstaff has no shortage of brewpubs, but Dark Sky Brewing stands out for the combination of house beer and a kitchen that's earning its own reputation. The space is clean and modern with a beer garden feel, walls carrying real artwork and personality, and a 4.4-star rating from over 300 reviews backing up the local buzz.

What to order

Reviewers keep circling back to the same short list: the gluten-free fried cheese curds, the fish and chips, and fries with beer cheese. The kitchen marks gluten-free and vegetarian options directly on the menu, which is worth knowing if you're traveling with dietary restrictions — this isn't an afterthought here. The beer lineup gets consistent praise as solid, well-made craft brews, and the drink menu extends past beer to cocktails like an espresso martini.

Good to know

  • Hours: open daily, noon to 10 PM
  • Setting: patio and indoor seating, described by regulars as dog-friendly
  • Address: 103 W Birch Ave, Flagstaff

It's a solid stop for a post-hike meal or an evening out after a day at the canyon — casual enough for a quick bite, with enough on the menu to make a full dinner of it.

After driving over 10 hour and then had to take an almost 2 hr detour to get to Flagstaff because I-40 was close we spent the night in Flagstaff, my wife and two kids age 15 and 16 went to DSB around 8:45 PM and was denied service because our kids were under to 21, the guy recommended we go next door to their pizza restaurant. I mean why? Both place served alcohol and both places served food, just different menu items, had I known I would’ve never even wasted my time driving there.

Came because ChatGPT said it had a dog friendly patio and the place we planned was closed. Over priced drinks and beer, decided not to eat here. Expensive bar food. They have some specialty drinks that are small (3 sip drinks) and expensive but not a regular full bar. Didn’t care for the $10 craft beers we tasted. $24 for 2 drinks, but staff was friendly.

The wings were the best I have ever eaten. It was a special for that day. Maple heat? I can't remember name exactly. The burger was also prepared well. We divided everything at the table and we all agreed the food was good.
