About

The Grand Canyon Inn is an old-school, family-run motel in Williams that hasn't tried to reinvent itself — and that's the appeal. Rooms are rustic rather than polished, but travelers consistently call them clean and comfortable, and with a 3.9 rating from over 3,000 Google reviews, it's a well-tested stop for anyone routing Route 66 or breaking up the drive up from Sedona or Flagstaff toward the South Rim.

What to expect

The property is split across a couple of buildings, so it's worth requesting a room on the main office side if you can — reviewers note it's the more consistently kept of the two. Inside, expect a coffee maker, spotless bathrooms, and a quiet, peaceful setting despite sitting right along the highway. A seasonal outdoor pool is on site for warmer months.

Food and drink

The on-site restaurant and western-themed bar get real praise in reviews — more than one guest called dinner here "sensational," a nice surprise for a roadside motel. It's a practical option for a casual meal without leaving the property after a long driving day.

  • Location: 257 AZ-64, Williams, AZ — on the route between Williams and the South Rim
  • Good for: a budget-friendly, no-frills overnight on a Route 66 or Grand Canyon road trip
  • On site: restaurant, bar, seasonal outdoor pool

Don't expect a boutique experience — this is a straightforward, well-run motel that leans on consistency and friendly service rather than updated decor, and regulars keep coming back for exactly that.

The rooms inside were lovely. My bed was perfect and the pillows were amazing. Best hotel pillows I've ever seen. The other bed is the room however was very used and my roommate had to sleep with head at foot of the bed so as not to feel like she was tilting down. The ac in our room did not work. Was extremely hot on there. The window would not open but could see other rooms had the ability to open the windows. There were no visible staff there at all. Upon check in had to use a kiosk but we thought it was because we got there late. However upon check out had to use kiosk. Again. So couldn't even complain or get help with the busted ac. No sleep for us. Yup

The Wi-Fi in the room is nonexistent. I've contacted them three times since I paid for it, but to no avail. The pool is dirty.
