About

Indian Fry Bread in Fredonia built a loyal following as a roadside stop for travelers heading to or from the North Rim, best known for exactly what the name promises: fry bread made to order, puffy and crisp at the edges, served plain, as Native American tacos, or wrapped around grilled chicken. Regulars who caught it after a rim-to-rim hike or a long drive up Highway 89A came back specifically for the chicken wrap and the fry bread, with more than one reviewer calling it the best they've had. Note: current listings show this location as temporarily closed, so check ahead before planning a stop rather than assuming it's open.

What people loved

  • Fry bread described as light and puffy, not greasy
  • Grilled chicken wrap, a frequent recommendation

  • Friendly, efficient service and a relaxed, welcoming vibe

With a 4.5 rating built over dozens of reviews, this earned a real reputation as a Fredonia favorite for road-trippers passing through on Highway 89A between Kanab and the House Rock Valley corridor toward Jacob Lake.

No longer there. Replaced by what looks like a BBQ truck.

Stopped here on my way toward the North Rim and honestly, I’m really glad I did. As a guy who’s had his fair share of road trip meals, this place stood out. I ordered the grilled chicken wrap and some fry bread, and everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The fry bread was especially impressive—light, puffy, and way better than I expected, with that perfect balance of crisp and soft. The wrap was well-made with fresh ingredients and tasted great after a long drive. Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole place had a relaxed, welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of spot you don’t expect to find but end up remembering. Definitely worth the stop if you’re passing through.

This place used to a lot better 20 years ago, but has since declined in quality. Still, it is a unique experience that I would recommend to people checking out the area.
