About

Kanab Creek Bakery is a European-style bakery and cafe on the edge of downtown Kanab, about 80 miles from the Grand Canyon's North Rim, with a patio and a wood-fired pizza oven anchoring a small, cozy dining room. It's a solid stop for pastries, sandwiches, salads, and espresso drinks before or after the drive down Highway 89A toward Jacob Lake.

What to expect

The kitchen turns out quiche, omelets, croissants, and daily baked goods alongside a full espresso menu, and reviewers consistently point to the quiche and vegetarian dishes as standouts. Seating is limited — a handful of counter stools up front near the pizza oven, with overflow tables next door — so it can fill up on busy mornings. Staff get regular praise for being friendly and quick even when the line is out the door.

  • Rating: 4.3 stars from over 1,000 reviews
  • Hours: open Friday and Saturday only, 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Price range: moderate ($$)
  • Website: kanabcreekbakery.com

Because it's only open two days a week, it's worth timing a Kanab stopover around it rather than counting on it as a daily fallback. Grab breakfast or a coffee here before heading north to the North Rim, or swing through on the way back from a day at Coyote Buttes or Vermilion Cliffs.

Wasted calories Was quite excited about it based on the reviews. Reached there by 10:30(or 11:30 based on the timezone). They ran out of croissant for the egg sandwich and replaced it with jalapeño bagel, which was aok, the crepe with fruit and cream was eh and the Swedish something was no thank you. The coffee was, let’s just say my worst coffee after those at the gas station.

The people who work here REALLY need to learn to operate with a sense of urgency. Their every movement is so slow for a coffee shop. It took us 45 minutes to get our coffee and I believe there were 4 people in front of us in line. So many workers seemed to just be mozying around. The next day we dared to come back and ordered then proceeded to wait for an hour and just left without our coffees A barista (much like a bartender) should move quickly and efficiently. The team should have clear roles and work in an assembly line to get things out. The food and drinks were great but they need to greatly improve their operations.

Came here for a quick coffee stop and baked goods as we were visiting in Kanab. Though the coffee menu had the prices listed, and align with other coffee shops in area, genuinely shocked by the cost for a ham and swiss croissant $13 as price was not listed. Together with a cortado (4oz coffee), bill came to $22 before tip. Other than coffee stop, suggest going elsewhere for baked goods unless you’re desperate. Service was decent though, friendly and relatively quick.

We visit Kanab often and was happy to hear this place opened up again. Their food is really good and those girls are hustling back there to make everyone feel welcomed and taken care of. Definitely a place to check out if your there!

Dropped by this place because it was the only coffee place in Kanab open on a Sunday. The drip coffee was weak and the cup leaked all over my car. They charged me extra for whole milk in my latte, which should be included in the cost of a latte, since by definition a latte comes with milk. The cinnamon bun was good but served refrigerated. I was thinking of getting a breakfast sandwich but couldn’t justify spending $15 on an egg sandwich.
