Lumberyard Brewing Co. pours craft beer inside a converted lumberyard building on San Francisco Street in downtown Flagstaff, about 80 miles south of the South Rim. It's the kind of low-key taproom-and-eatery where the beer list does a lot of the talking, but the kitchen has earned its own following.
Reviewers keep steering toward the same handful of dishes: burgers and sandwiches (the Tombstone and a BBQ tri-tip both get called out), truffle fries, and shareable starters like Sonoran poutine and mac n cheese balls. The Hazy Angel IPA shows up often in reviews alongside a solid porter. One tip worth passing along, several diners rate the nachos as the weak link on an otherwise strong menu, so lean toward the sandwiches and appetizers instead.
The building sits right beside the railroad tracks, and more than one visitor mentions the novelty of a train rumbling past every few minutes, best appreciated from a window seat. There's a patio with a fire pit for warmer evenings and enough indoor seating to handle larger groups comfortably.

We had a great lunch here- The truffle fries were pretty strong in truffle flavor. The Mac and Cheese is very rich and a big portion. Their pulled pork is very good and pretty sweet. The service was great, and the restaurant located right next to the train track so every 5-10 minutes a train comes by and it’s nice to sit next to the window to watch. Overall a solid option!

Cool atmosphere and good brew on tap. The Southwest Popper Dip and the Tombstone sandwich were really good. We didn't get the hype on the Mac-N-Cheese items as they tasted like Kraft. Overall a good experience

recently visited Lumberyard Brewing Company in downtown Flagstaff, and overall I had a very positive experience. The restaurant has plenty of seating, a casual atmosphere, and a staff that was genuinely friendly. The burgers and sandwiches are outstanding and absolutely worth ordering. It's easy to see why this place is popular with both locals and visitors. That said, I strongly advise against the nachos. They were one of the most disappointing restaurant dishes I've had in a long time. The toppings were incredibly sparse: literally five slices of jalapeños (yes, I counted) and approximately ten olives spread across the entire plate. Even worse, the cheese choice didn't work for nachos. Much of it ended up burned onto the chips and even baked onto the serving pan rather than covering the nachos themselves. As you can see in my photo, many chips were left nearly bare while a significant portion of the cheese was stuck to the metal tray instead of the food. If you're coming here, order a burger, sandwich, and a beer. Those are clearly their strengths. But unless the nacho recipe gets a serious overhaul, I'd skip them entirely.

Food was delicious, service was friendly and great! Arugula in my burger weren't freshest but overall was great experience, we'll be back! Chilled delicious beer.

Good food, good service, and good beer. Been going up to Flagstaff periodically over the last 10 years but have never stopped by Lumberyard until yesterday. We will definitely be back.
