Taro Coffee Bar

Kanab's top-rated coffee stop on the way to the North Rim

About

Taro Coffee Bar sits right in the middle of downtown Kanab, and it's become the town's favorite stop for a properly made espresso drink before or after a Grand Canyon North Rim run. With a 4.8-star rating across more than 200 reviews, it's earned a reputation locally for dialing in the details — travelers routinely single out the cappuccino's espresso-to-milk ratio as some of the best they've had on a road trip, and the pastry case (raspberry Danish included) gets its own share of praise for being genuinely flaky rather than the usual gas-station fallback.

What to expect

  • Espresso drinks, cold brew, and specialty pours alongside baked goods
  • A small, atmospheric coffee-shop space with a chatty, welcoming staff
  • A convenient staging point before the ~80-mile drive up Highway 89A and Highway 67 to the North Rim

Hours are limited and worth planning around: Taro is open Thursday through Sunday (Monday too, with Tuesday and Wednesday closed), generally from 7 or 8am until 2pm. Get there on the earlier side — it's a small shop, and the good stuff has a way of running out by mid-morning.

Cute coffee shop! Staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. I recommend their Dirty Taro Latte.
