The Dining Room at Parry Lodge
Elevated comfort food inside a piece of Kanab's Hollywood history
About
The Dining Room at Parry Lodge is a genuine surprise in downtown Kanab: white-tablecloth service and a menu that runs well past standard road-trip fare, tucked inside a hotel with real Hollywood history. Kanab was a favorite Western-movie backlot for decades, and the lodge leans into that past with movie memorabilia on the walls, giving the room a lived-in, storytelling character rather than a generic hotel-restaurant feel.
What to expect
- Cider-brined pork chop over Parmesan-winter squash risotto, and a bison burger with blue cheese and bacon marmalade, both frequently singled out by diners
- Elk patty melt, with the kitchen willing to accommodate food allergies
- Wine and beer available; no hard liquor, standard for Utah
- Open daily 7 AM to 2 PM, making it a solid breakfast-through-lunch stop before or after a Highway 89A run toward Jacob Lake and the North Rim, about 80 miles north
It holds a 4.3-star rating built on a small but consistently glowing set of reviews, with servers repeatedly called out by name for going out of their way for guests. One regular visitor noted it's often the rare kitchen still open in Kanab's slower off-season stretches. Reservations are worth calling ahead for on weekends, especially if you're timing a Grand Canyon North Rim trip around it.

When most other restaurants are closed in Kanab, The Dining Room at Parry Lodge has your back! Scrambled eggs were delicious (plenty of spots manage to mess this up), biscuits and gravy was great, bacon was nice and crispy. Portions are not huge which is a nice change of pace from the typical American dining experience. Highly recommend, especially off season.

We have eaten the seasonal buffet numerous times. The waitstaff and food were always at least 4 stars. We just had breakfast off their menu and we were shocked by the decline in service and food quality. There was only one table in the entire restaurant occupied when we arrived. The waitress was super slow. She did not bring us menus until after we sat down and ordered coffee. During the entire breakfast she never checked on us, or, replenished our coffees. She brought our food out in piecemeal portions. With only two other tables occupied. We came to the conclusion the managers must be using housekeepers as wait staff. The bacon was very good. The potatoes were hard dried up cubes. Uneatable.

They are never open on time and don't have the advertised breakfast buffet, food isn't that great either.

The breakfast buffet was amazing. The southwest eggs, French toast, maple bacon, biscuits… it was so delicious we ate here several times while in town. Plus the history of the former Star hotel guests was fascinating.
