Breakfast & lunch spot with funky decor & a big patio offering updated American dishes & a full bar.
The owl decor isn't subtle and neither is the crowd on a Saturday morning, but The Toasted Owl Cafe has earned its following in Flagstaff with a breakfast-and-lunch menu of updated American dishes and a genuinely fun, eclectic room. With a 4.4 rating from over 3,300 reviews, it's one of the more talked-about breakfast spots in town.
Expect a wait on weekends — reviewers consistently mention lines out the door, especially for the popular items, and reservations are recommended if you don't want to stand in the cold. Once seated, service gets high marks for being attentive and friendly, and the eclectic owl-themed light fixtures and decor give the place a distinct, quirky personality rather than generic diner styling. There's a full bar if you want a bloody mary with your eggs, and a large patio for warmer days (though it's sometimes reserved for guests with pets, so ask when you check in).
It's a solid stop for breakfast or lunch if you're passing through Flagstaff on the way to or from the South Rim, about 80 miles north — just build in time for the wait.

Ok I had high hopes for this place but was insanely disappointed. Arrive and it did take a little bit after the beverage order to get the food order in. After an hour the food still had not arrived and we watch SEVERAL tables come and go. The server finally noticed and said "the system was down and the kitchen didnt get the ticket and ill have to retake the order." This was weird because the order though might not of sent to the kitchen should still be in the POS system. It doesnt magically disappear. After they retook the order we were assured it would be prioritized. This wasnt true. We literally watch another's order get taken and delivered BEFORE WE GOT THE REORDER. Then the manager said oh maybe the server forgot to put in the order. I let them know that we were told the system was down and the look on her face proved this wasnt true. Then the server tried to blame the kitchen. Like dude, we work in the food and beverage industry and have for many years I know the game and you didnt play it well blaming the kitchen only buys a few minutes not the full hour and a half we waited for the food. Then the server was asking if we worked in the industry which was the wrong move. I did give advice but SERVING 101 if a tables food comes out before an order that you know should of been out first you check on the ticket then you dont bring out another tables order until that order is expedited. The fact that they almost flipped the whole patio then caught it was appalling. Managers and owners please consider retaining the staff this was an easy fix and you could avoid issues like this in the future.

Food quality has gone downhill. Thought it was a fluke but it has been consistent. Cold food, soggy, over seasoned has happened many times now.

What a disappointment!!! All tested like a can food mixed together for $19/plate. Then additional 7% for Flagstaff service charge. Ridiculous!!! Will not be visiting again!
