Watchtower Pool Bar + Patio

Poolside drinks and casual bites near the South Rim

(5)
Grand Canyon Village, AZ

About

Watchtower Pool Bar + Patio is the poolside bar at Best Western Premier Grand Canyon Squire Inn in Tusayan, the small gateway town about 7 miles south of the South Rim entrance. It's a low-key spot to grab a drink and something quick after a day on the rim, with an outdoor patio setup that leans casual rather than destination dining.

What to expect

The bar keeps limited hours, open Thursday through Saturday, 3:00-8:00 PM, and closed the rest of the week — worth checking before you plan an evening around it. The menu runs toward simple bar food and mixed drinks; one recent reviewer singled out a quesadilla and "yummy drinks made fresh," served by friendly staff. There's a playground and artificial-turf games area next door, which makes it workable for families traveling with kids who need to burn energy while adults unwind.

  • Hours: Thu-Sat, 3:00-8:00 PM; closed Sun-Wed
  • Location: at the Squire Resort in Tusayan, about 7 miles from the South Rim entrance
  • Vibe: casual poolside bar, drinks and light bites

Reviews are mixed on service and pricing, so this is more of a convenient stop for resort guests than a destination bar worth a special trip — best treated as an easy option if you're already staying at the Squire.

Yummy drinks made fresh and served by friendly staff. Got a quesadilla as well and it hit the spot!

Sure. It's not Raffles or Trader Vic's... But: it's a break within a break, a vacation within a vacation. Perfect! 👍🍹 They have wine, beer, cocktails... The playground for adults and children next door is great too, with lots of games on the artificial turf. Really nice. Very fast bartender.

The barman displayed a notably discourteous attitude. I appreciate the need to suppress common sense in-order to adhere to resort policy or state law by requesting identification from every individual, regardless of how obvious it is they are well over 21 years of age. Nevertheless, it is entirely possible to do so with a welcoming demeanour and uphold essential customer service standards, particularly when you are employed at a resort. Also, the price of a beer here is criminal.
