Flagstaff Area National Monuments

The office behind three Flagstaff-area monuments

Flagstaff, AZ

About

This address on US-89 north of Flagstaff is the shared administrative headquarters for three National Park Service units — Sunset Crater Volcano, Wupatki, and Walnut Canyon — grouped together as the Flagstaff Area National Monuments. It's an easy stop to misread: reviewers note the building itself is offices, not a visitor center, so don't plan on touring exhibits here.

What's actually here

Picnic tables and a bike rack sit outside a working NPS office where staff coordinate management across all three monuments. If you're hoping to see cliff dwellings, an ancestral Puebloan pueblo, or a volcanic cinder cone, you'll want the individual park units themselves — Walnut Canyon, Wupatki, and Sunset Crater each have their own visitor centers with the exhibits and trail access.

Why it's worth knowing about

Reviewers who've visited the actual monuments rate the experience highly, with rangers singled out for helpful, informative stops at each site. This headquarters is more useful as a reference point for trip planning or park business than as a destination in itself.

Confused. This is the administrative offices. Did they build in top of what's in these other pictures? I don't see anything else from the outside other than picnic tables and a bike rack? Didn't want up walk in on offices.

These three national monuments should be made into a national park! Each one is fabulous and it's scenery and breathtaking in its beauty. All of the Rangers were excellent at telling us information about each site and helpful hints on how to view and enjoy The Monuments the best way. As a handicapped person, I was able to view each and every one to its fullest.
