Geology Talk is a free, ranger-led program held at the Yavapai Geology Museum on the South Rim, covering how the Grand Canyon actually formed: the layered sedimentary rock exposed in the canyon walls, the uplift of the Colorado Plateau, and the roughly six million years the Colorado River has spent cutting through it. The 30-minute talk is pitched at a general audience and needs no advance sign-up.
