About

Grand Canyon Jeep Tours & Safaris runs open-air off-road tours out of Tusayan, and the numbers back up the hype: a 4.9 rating across 281 reviews, which is rare air for any tour outfit. The draw is simple — guides who actually know the canyon and aren't afraid to get off the pavement to prove it.

What the tour covers

Expect a mix of bouncing along backcountry roads in an open Jeep, stops at viewpoints most day-trippers never see, and a guide filling in the geology and history along the way. The Sunset Jeep Safari is a standout pick — reviewers describe being taken to quieter overlooks away from the crowds to watch the canyon shift through orange and purple light, with warm blankets handed out as the temperature drops. Guides are consistently the headline in reviews, with names like Tyler, Werner, and Victoria singled out repeatedly for knowledge, pacing, and making the trip feel unrushed.

Good to know

  • Hours: open daily, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Location: based in Tusayan, about 7 miles south of the South Rim entrance
  • Phone: (928) 638-5337

This is a good fit for travelers who want the canyon experience without hiking it — a comfortable way to cover more ground and see it from angles the main overlooks don't offer.

An extraordinary experience, highly recommended. The Safari Adventure Sunset Jeep Tour of the Grand Canyon was much more than a simple guided tour: it was an authentic journey to discover one of the most incredible places on the planet. We were fortunate to have Werner as our guide, a truly special person: passionate, highly knowledgeable, and with a contagious enthusiasm for sharing the beauty and secrets of the Grand Canyon. His knowledge of the area, his sensitivity in describing nature, and his ability to lead us to discover wonderful corners made the experience unique. What we appreciated most was the feeling of experiencing the park "like a local." At no point did we feel like tourists accompanied by a guide, but rather like we were in the car with an expert friend who wanted to show us special places we would never have found on our own. Werner was able to transform a visit to the Grand Canyon into a personal, authentic, and emotionally charged experience, sharing not only valuable information but also his profound love for this area. The sunset over the Grand Canyon was simply unforgettable. A tour organized with great professionalism, but above all with passion and heart. An experience that we will carry with us forever and that we highly recommend to anyone who wants to discover the Grand Canyon in an authentic and special way. We took the Jeep Tour and our guide Tyler aka Big Steve was a wonderful guide. While the tour was a little more expensive than I wanted, but for the time, information and not having to worry about directions, it was more than worth it. Going through the National Forest and seeing the Elk, mule deers and other wildlife the getting to see the Grand Canyon from several different places was great. Getting reservations made was Quick and easy and seeing the sun setting over the canyon was amazing. The Lord knew what He was doing when He made and painted the Canyon!

Got a private tour by the bee keeper, Jason Statham himself. 🤣 The guide was great, the story and jokes he cracks was great too. Never a dull moment. The sunset was beautiful. It was an unforgettable.
