About

Midgley Bridge spans a deep, narrow gorge where Wilson Canyon meets Oak Creek Canyon just north of Sedona, and the picnic area at its south end has become a favorite quick stop for red-rock views without committing to a big hike. Rated 4.8 stars from nearly 1,200 Google reviews, it's one of the more consistently loved stops along AZ-89A.

What's here

The bridge itself draws plenty of attention — reviewers call it "incredibly impressive" — and even a short walk from the parking area delivers sweeping views down into the canyon and out to Sedona's red rock formations. You don't need to go far: several visitors note that a brief stroll along the rim is enough to take in the scenery and grab photos, though the ground near the edges is uneven and the drop is real, so care matters here.

For those who want more

The picnic area also doubles as a trailhead. It connects to trails of varying difficulty, including a short, steep route down to Oak Creek (about 15 minutes down, closer to 25 back up) and the long out-and-back climb toward the Wilson Mountain overlook, an 11-mile round trip with steady uphill and big payoff views. Hikers with mobility limitations have still managed to get close enough for great photos before turning back at the steeper sections.
