Cornville, AZ

About

Agave Highlands is a public golf course in Cornville, out in the Verde Valley south of Sedona. Google reviewers rate it 4 out of 5 from 204 reviews, and the recurring theme is good value on a course that's still finding its footing — friendly staff, fair conditions, and a layout that rewards patience more than power.

What golfers say

The driving range gets specific praise for being well kept with useful distance markers, and the putting green draws mention as large and well maintained. On the course itself, reviewers describe improving fairways and greens that are generally in good shape, though a few note thin turf in spots and slow pace of play during busy stretches. One regular called it an easier course with a handful of genuinely challenging holes.

  • Hours: open daily, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Amenities: golf course, driving range, practice putting green
  • Phone: (928) 634-5454

It's a straightforward, no-frills round rather than a resort-course experience — reviewers keep coming back to the staff and the price-to-quality ratio rather than dramatic scenery or a marquee design pedigree.

Agave Highlands Golf Course in Cottonwood Arizona off State Route 89A is an 18 hole golf course, including grass driving range and chipping and putting practice facility. Called before coming in late afternoon when I was in the area to check it out. Proshop said it was wide open, possibly because of the temperatures. Got thru 3 holes before catching up to a twosome. Paired up with them, nice gentlemen who were regulars, once a week'ers. Told me that the course had been in bad shape for a long time and was on its way to getting better and looking better. Greens were excellent, healthy. It was a click and go type putt, long shaggy greens. I would rather see it this way than short and scalped and dead. They need a spray technician to get rid of the weeds and other grass types that might be choking out the good grass in the fairways and roughs. Cart paths were not all cement, almost like a scatter from the tee box kind of situation. Unfortunately I had a time constraint and was only able to get to hole 10. The proshop informed that the back off the course was more dynamic and the twosome told me the scenery in the background showcased the red rock mountains of Sedona, where as the front scenes were of the mountains in the Cottonwood region. I will defintely be back to see the changes in maintenance of the course told by the regulars and the proshop and to finish the back of the course. Keep up the great work Agave Highlands!!!

This is a great little hidden spot you have to try their hamburger. An extremely generously sized hamburger.
