Greenway Trailhead Parking Area

Your starting point for the South Rim's paved, car-free Greenway path

(0)
Grand Canyon interior, AZ

About

This parking area is one of the access points for the Greenway Trail, the paved, mostly level path system that links the developed parts of Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim. Unlike the dirt inner-canyon trails, the Greenway is a family-friendly walking and biking route — flat and paved, open to pedestrians and cyclists, and built so visitors can get between the Visitor Center, Market Plaza, campgrounds, and rim viewpoints without needing a car for every stop.

What it connects to

  • The Greenway network runs both toward the South Kaibab Trailhead area to the east and toward Tusayan to the south, with additional segments looping through the Village itself.
  • Shuttle buses along the South Rim carry bike racks, so you can ride one direction on the Greenway and bus back rather than doubling your mileage.
  • Bike rentals are available near the Visitor Center for those who'd rather pedal than walk.

Treat this lot as a starting point rather than a destination — park here, then pick a direction on the paved path toward the rim overlooks or the Village services.

Best Time to Use It

The paved Greenway is usable year-round, making this a reliable option even on days when weather or heat limits inner-canyon plans.
