Long Jim is a low-key multi-use trail through the ponderosa pine forest near Grand Canyon Village, not a rim overlook or a below-the-rim descent into the canyon itself. It runs mostly on old forest-service doubletrack with a smaller share of singletrack woven in, gaining a modest few hundred feet over its length — a gentle, rolling grade rather than a climb. A locked gate near Highway 64 keeps vehicle traffic off, so it's used on foot, by bike, and on horseback.
