About

Walhalla Overlook sits on the North Rim's Walhalla Plateau along Cape Royal Road, about 6.5 miles south of Roosevelt Point. A one-lane pullout with parking on either side puts you right at the rim with wide views into the eastern canyon and down Unkar Creek to Unkar Delta, the broad flat of sediment where the creek meets the Colorado River far below.

While You're There

Cross the road from the overlook for a short, flat walk to Walhalla Glades Pueblo, the remains of an Ancestral Puebloan dwelling roughly 1,000 years old. Archaeologist Douglas Schwartz spent over 30 years excavating the Unkar Delta area starting in 1949, and his work here documented that Indigenous people farmed and lived at the delta below. The pueblo walk pairs naturally with the overlook stop and needs only a few extra minutes.

  • Cape Royal Road is closed to RVs over 22 feet and vehicle-trailer combinations over 22 feet total, due to narrow, winding sections with blind corners
  • No potable water at the overlook — bring your own
  • North Rim operates day-use only in 2026; check current road status before you go, as post-fire hazards can prompt temporary closures
