Walhalla Spur Trail

A quiet forest walk to a thousand-year-old pueblo site

(0)
Grand Canyon interior, AZ

About

The Walhalla Spur is a short above-rim path on the Walhalla Plateau, out on the far end of Cape Royal Road on the North Rim. It branches off near Walhalla Overlook and crosses a dirt path of roughly a quarter mile to the low stone outlines of Walhalla Glades Pueblo, an Ancestral Puebloan farming site occupied around A.D. 1050 to 1150. There's no steep grade and no canyon exposure here — it's a level walk through open forest, not a rim descent, so it suits visitors who want a stretch of the legs without committing to real elevation change.
