About

The Econo Lodge Flagstaff East sits off I-40 on Lucky Lane, one of several budget motels lining the east side of Flagstaff, about 80 miles south of the South Rim. It's a straightforward, no-frills stop billed around an outdoor pool and free full breakfast, with parking and WiFi included — the basics for travelers who just need a bed before or after a canyon day.

What to expect

Google reviewers give this property a 3.2 rating from over 1,400 reviews, and recent feedback has been rough — multiple guests describe worn-down rooms, cleanliness issues, and inconsistent breakfast service, with a few reports of ongoing construction near the lobby. That's worth knowing going in: this is a bargain, drive-up motel, not a polished chain stay, and the reviews suggest quality has been inconsistent lately.

Good to know

  • Location: 2500 E Lucky Ln, Flagstaff — east side, off I-40, near a strip of other budget motels
  • Amenities: outdoor pool, free full breakfast, free parking and WiFi
  • Best for: travelers prioritizing a low price and an easy freeway exit over polish

If you're budget-conscious and just need a place to crash between Flagstaff and the South Rim, it covers the basics — but given the review pattern, it's worth checking current guest feedback before booking, and comparing against other east-Flagstaff options if a spotless room matters more than price.

Filthy rooms, dirt piled up in corners, bed sheets had multiple holes in them, the mattress was rock hard, the refrigerator wasn't very cold at coldest setting and was very loud, and the AC continuously cycled off and on... Lobby smells bad. Avoid this place if you can. There is not single nice thing I can say about the hotel. Truly an awful stay.

My husband did not read the reviews as we were in a hurry. The location was ideal so he booked (we needed a pet friendly hotel) and the pics looked nice (very deceiving and misrepresented!!!) The worst hotel room we have ever occupied. If it wasn’t so late at night we would have gone elsewhere. -Room smelled stale - Sticky residue on table - Fridge had not been cleaned -Microwave was broken -Rubbish behind TV stand (as our dog was trying to get to something) - Laundry bag was not new - it had been used and folded - Ice bucket didn’t have a lid - Bathtub -drain had not been cleaned. Water backed up as there was accumulated hair - Towels were threadbare -Walls (paint) old and shabby - AC unit was dirty Etc, etc, etc,…….. My husband told him about the hair in the tub but the owner didn’t seem to care. I just read some reviews and noticed that the owner, Dan Patel, has a STANDARD response to reviews. Doesn’t even take the time to respond individually to each one - just the same answer. No wonder there is no improvement. Would HIGHLY ADVISE against staying there.
