This is an absolutely beautiful place to stay if you're there for the Grand Canyon. It is about a 20 minute drive north to the Grand Canyon from this location. The road getting into the casita is about 4 mi long and you need a four-wheel drive or a high clearance vehicle which is not stated anywhere on the listing before you purchase. Immediately upon purchasing you receive an email that says you need a four-wheel drive or high clearance vehicle which is a little shameful on the owner given that they do not give refunds so they wait until after you purchase your stay to tell you that you need a four-wheel drive or high clearance vehicle. I have a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan two wheel drive front wheel drive and our stay was during Christmas 2025 The road in and out on a scale of 1 to 10 10 being the worst was about a five when we were there and I was able to make it in the car mentioned above but just barely if it's raining or has been raining before your stay and you don't have four wheel drive you will not make it. Other than that the casita is hands down one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed and the wood burning fire right next to the couch was a lovely addition and you will definitely need it if staying in the winter time because it is quite cold there. Also there is no TV provided in the casita luckily we asked before we came and we brought our own small 30-in TV there is Wi-Fi to hook your TV to.
The road was accessible in dry conditions driving slowly, and it’s WORTH the drive! 5 stars cause would be hard to access with a small vehicle BUT they offer pickup. Call and ask if your make/model will make with it if you’re that worried, don’t let it stop you, they will be honest about the road conditions!
The isolation of this location is unmatched. The service of a family owned business was second to none, and the room was so homey! The handmade touches such as the hand plastered shower, the Arizona decor, and the kitchen that was to die for all made this the perfect getaway for a decompression evening! The shared space is also very peaceful and comfortable! There’s a good food truck at the dome resort up the road if you get desperate for something to eat and find yourself unprepared!
Our stay was fantastic! First off, to everyone complaining about the road: it’s clearly stated beforehand, and honestly, it was way better than expected. We drove in with a SUV (Chevy Suburban) and had zero issues. Compared to roads in some national parks or the Monument Valley drive, this one was a breeze. Totally manageable!
Now, about the stay itself – it’s wonderfully remote, which was perfect for unwinding after the hustle of a road trip. The casita has everything you need, and both electricity and water worked flawlessly. There are even a few complimentary drinks in the commons area, which was a nice touch. All in all, highly recommend this spot, especially if you’re headed back to Phoenix after visiting the Grand Canyon!
I cancelled my reservation to this place well within the time to qualify for a full refund, yet two months later, the business still hasn't returned a penny of my money. I don't know what's going on financially there, but they are intent on keeping my money. There was a brief couple of a days when Mary communicated with me, but after that, complete silence. The business also seems to be ignoring the efforts of Booking.com, whom I made the reservation through, to communicate with them about this situation.
Attention, scam!
I booked this accommodation on Booking.com and only after the reservation was complete I got a private message by the owner, telling me I needed a 4WD or high clearance vehicle to reach the accommodation. This was not stated anywhere on their page, not even in the fine print, therefore I had no chance to get this information before booking.
Since I was travelling with a normal car, I had to cancel the reservation and from that day there has been no way to communicate with the owner. I send multiple emails and messages through different channels and even Booking.com has tried to contact them multiple times but we get no answer. Of course I never got my money back.
It is a shame I checked the google reviews only after the reservation otherwise I would have been warned.
