About

Highland Country Inn is a no-frills, family-run motel on South Milton Road in Flagstaff, a straightforward option for anyone using the city as a base before or after a South Rim trip. It won't win points for style, but it consistently earns high marks for the basics done right: clean rooms, comfortable beds, and a quiet, safe stay.

What to expect

Rooms are simple but well-kept, with some units including a minifridge and microwave, plus free Wi-Fi and free parking right outside your door. Reviewers repeatedly single out how spotless the rooms are and how easy check-in and access are, with several guests noting they've rebooked on return trips to Flagstaff.

  • Rating: 4.2 stars from over 500 Google reviews
  • Amenities: free Wi-Fi, free parking, minifridge and microwave in select rooms
  • Location: 223 S Milton Rd, close to NAU and downtown Flagstaff, with quick access from I-17

This is budget-friendly, practical lodging rather than a boutique experience — good for road-trippers who want a clean, reliable place to sleep before continuing on to the canyon, about 80 miles north.

Super clean, renovated rooms, and Keurigs with Green Mountain coffee in every room. Very quiet and simple, comfortable rooms. Good location within walking distance of downtown. This place doesn't look like much from the outside but we had a very pleasant stay!

Great place to stay if you're gonna spend time exploring. The room is basic but comfortable. Fridge, microwave and coffee maker all worked well and were more than adequate for our 2 night stay. They don't allow pets but if you need any extra of something, the staff were accommodating. It was also very clean, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Outlets could be a challenge if you need more than 3. It's definitely a good bang for the buck especially because its close to everything and you can walk as parking can be challenging in the downtown Flag area.
