Rustic cabins in North Kaibab National Forest, plus a relaxed lounge & a restaurant.
Kaibab Lodge sits in North Kaibab National Forest along the highway to the Grand Canyon's North Rim, a cluster of rustic cabins built around a common lodge with a restaurant and lounge. It's less a destination in itself than a basecamp — the kind of place hikers land after finishing a rim-to-rim trek or before an early start on the North Kaibab Trail, and reviewers consistently describe it that way: a quiet, welcoming stop in the middle of the forest.
The cabins are older but clean, with small showers that reviewers note run hot with decent pressure — this is rustic lodging, not a resort. The lodge itself functions as a social hub, with guests gathering in common areas to relax after a day on the trail. Breakfast and dinner buffets are available on-site, though a few reviewers flagged the buffet pricing as steep for what it is. Staff get consistent praise across reviews for being friendly and accommodating.
Book ahead if your trip lines up with North Rim season — this is prime real estate for anyone hiking the North Kaibab Trail or driving up before the rim opens for the day.

We found our small cabin very accommodating and fit us perfectly! The rooms were clean, cozy, and fit the cabin-like style. The only negative was that we felt like the buffet was slightly over-priced. The food was very gormet and delicious though. The location of the lodge was perfect- right near the north rim. The stars were also very pretty. The actual lodge was very pretty with places to hang out and items and foods to buy, along with games that you can borrow. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay.

A perfect place to stay for a North Rim adventure! We stayed in one of the brand-new cabins with a loft. We needed a cot to fit the advertised six occupants (four adults and two kids) — the loft was listed as having two double beds but actually had a double and a twin. No matter, the staff happily delivered a cot quickly. The cabin had a nice porch for breakfasts or sitting and reading. The best part of staying here was hanging out in the lodge, playing games and watching hikers trudge in after their Rim-to-Rim hikes, or prance in if they hadn’t started yet :) The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Ava. Thanks for a great stay!
