About

Motel Du Beau Travelers Inn is a 1920s-era motel in the heart of downtown Flagstaff, a couple of blocks from the Amtrak station and within easy walking distance of the city's restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. It's an old-school, no-frills place rather than a chain hotel, and reviewers consistently point to the location as the biggest draw — you can park the car for your whole stay and walk to meals. It holds a 4.6 rating from 378 Google reviews.

What to expect

Rooms run small and basic, in keeping with the building's vintage character, but most reviewers describe them as clean and the beds as comfortable. Free breakfast is included. The motel sits close to active rail tracks, and it's a no-whistle zone, so there's no horn blast — but light sleepers still mention hearing trains and street noise at night. Cooling can be a sore spot: one guest was caught off guard to find the room had no central air conditioning, so it's worth asking the front desk about cooling options if you're visiting in warm months.

Good to know

  • Location: 19 W Phoenix Ave, downtown Flagstaff, near the Amtrak station
  • Hours: front desk open daily, roughly 7:00 AM to 8:30-9:00 PM
  • Distance to the canyon: near Humphrey Street, which leads out to Grand Canyon Village, roughly 90 minutes away

It suits travelers packing light who want a walkable downtown base the night before or after a Grand Canyon trip, rather than a resort-style stay.

Just a little bit better bedding away from 5 stars. My wife and I have stayed here several times. Experience with staff is limited to check in/out but are always competent and friendly. Location and pricing seal the deal here; both are great. The property also has nice seating areas to relax and unwind. Cool spot. Keep in mind it is downtown so there is train and crowd noise which doesn't bother me but something to consider for some.

I stayed here on a two week long Arizona road trip and it was the worst night sleep I had, despite also spending a week camping and backpacking. It is SO noisy, even with ear plugs jammed in your ears. I didn’t realize there’s no AC until I got there and I couldn’t let the fan window unit in because of the noise, so it ended up running while sitting on the desk. The noise from passing traffic, the train, other occupants, and pedestrians is magnified, as if it’s happening in the room with you. The location is great for walking downtown and not having to worry about parking, but also sort of sketchy, with homeless people meandering around and people sitting right outside the window to the room at a picnic table. I also saw at least two spiders in the room during my stay and woke up to a bite on my face and hand. I wanted to love this place but I would not recommend staying here.

Great staff, was able to park before check-in, room was simple and clean. Motel is very convenient to downtown and train station.

Our room was so cozy and nice, and we loved having access to the kitchen 24/7. Great location close to lots of shops in Flagstaff, would definitely stay here again!
