About

Sun-n-Sand Motel is a family-run budget motel right in downtown Kanab, about 80 miles from the North Rim and an easy staging point if you're coming in via Highway 89A or heading on to Zion and Bryce. Rooms are simple and pared-down, some with kitchenettes, and the place runs on a personal touch rather than a corporate one — past guests have been checked in via an envelope of keys left on the desk when the office was briefly unattended, and the owners have gone out of their way to make things right when travel plans changed. A free breakfast and BBQ grills are available on site.

What to expect

  • Location: walking distance to downtown Kanab restaurants, shops, and a grocery store
  • Rooms: basic and older but clean, some with kitchenettes for longer stays
  • Extras: free breakfast, BBQ grills, on-site parking
  • Rating: 4.0 stars from 253 Google reviews, with guests consistently calling out the price and the staff

This isn't a polished resort — it's a no-frills motel where the value is the location and the price, not the finish on the furniture. If you want a clean, cheap bed in the middle of Kanab within striking distance of the North Rim, it delivers.

The first night we got there they were booked, and our AC unit was broken. I let them know and within an hour or two they had it fixed and blowing colder than ever. The people there were very nice and helpful we stayed there for about four nights. Great location in the middle of town.

Great value, if you don't mind shabby chic. This is an older motel, but well-maintained, clean, and tastefully updated. Short walk to a market, restaurants, and downtown.

Disappointed. My kids were gonna stay and the room smelled and had roaches. Didn't expect this in Kanab.
