Super 8 by Wyndham Williams West Route 66/Grand Canyon Area

A budget Route 66 stopover on the way to the South Rim

(232)
Williams, AZ

About

Super 8 by Wyndham Williams West sits right on historic Route 66 on the western edge of town, an easy walk to downtown Williams' shops, diners, and neon-lit storefronts. It's a budget roadside motel aimed at travelers passing through on the way to the South Rim, about 60 miles north, and the location is genuinely its strongest selling point.

What to expect

This is a no-frills stop, not a destination. Guest reviews are decidedly mixed: several visitors have flagged worn rooms, aging bathrooms, and spotty housekeeping, and the advertised continental breakfast has been described by more than one guest as little more than coffee, juice, and granola bars rather than a full spread. On the plus side, reviewers consistently point to the convenient position just off the main road into town, ample parking, and a quiet setting for an overnight stay.

  • Location: 1001 W Route 66, Williams, AZ — walking distance to downtown
  • Best for: a low-cost, one-night layover before or after a South Rim day trip
  • Rating: 2.8 stars from 232 Google reviews

Set expectations accordingly: this is a basic, budget-friendly place to sleep near Route 66, not a boutique stay. If a clean, reliable room matters more than price, it's worth comparing against other Williams motels before booking.

Dirty and disrespectful! We stayed at this hotel and I thought the rooms were dirty, run down, and neglected. Beds were like a piece of plywood with uneven springs on top. The coffee juice station looked like it haven't been cleaned... well ever. Super unhygienic. The ad says they have breakfast... they do not. Worse the family that runs the hotel were just flat rude. Every single person I spoke to was more than rude... almost hostile to friendly travelers. I had to pay a 45$ pet fee for my 2 dogs who are way cleaner than the entire hotel. Then, were here to see the grand canyon and the office has a big photo of the canyon and its covered up with weird unfriendly Islamic images. I was very turned off by this. Were here for the grand canyon, not to view your religious artifacts. Not cool super 8. (Photo is at lobby desk) Ps I nearly forgot that the shower had some sort of liner in it that filled with water. The bubbles were large 4-6 inches tall and wide. I could put both feet on the bubble, It was like showering while standing on a wobbly bumpy water bed. Bad for people with stability issues.

Location Location Location. Very convenient. Rooms good enough for a night. No more than three. Wish I had known there were so many roadside motels. Could have, would have, should have gone historic nostalgic feeling. Oh well.,
