Yavapai Lodge
Straightforward property offering basic rooms with minifridges & TVs, plus a casual eatery.
About
Yavapai Lodge is the largest lodging option inside Grand Canyon Village, and its biggest draw isn't luxury — it's location. The property sits close to Canyon Village Market Plaza, about 0.6 miles from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center and roughly a mile from the Rim Trail, spread across a main lodge and a cluster of woodland-set buildings. With a 4.1 rating from over 5,800 Google reviews, it's a mixed bag: reviewers consistently praise the setting and staff, while several note the rooms run basic and could use updating.
What to expect
Rooms are straightforward — minifridge, TV, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and parking — without frills. On-site, the Yavapai Tavern serves casual pub food (reviewers call out the quesadillas), and there's a cafeteria-style restaurant for quick meals between hikes. Pet-friendly rooms are available with a kennel provided.
Good to know
- Location: 11 Yavapai Lodge Rd, Grand Canyon Village — inside the park, near the Market Plaza and Visitor Center
- Best for: travelers who want to walk to the rim and skip the drive in from Tusayan
- Booking: as in-park South Rim lodging, rooms book out months in advance, especially spring through fall
It won't win points for polish, but for a home base a short walk from the canyon's edge, the convenience is hard to beat — just reserve early.

Excellent location at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Very close to the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. Cafe is open until 9 pm and offers brisket, BBQ chicken and salmon along with soups and salads. Rooms are basic. Some rooms are pet friendly including an in-room kennel and bags for walking your dog. Expensive. Consider Tusayan not far from the park entrance to stay near the park but spend less.

Excellent location. Great people. Good room- clean and comfortable. Very relaxing. If you’re going to take advantage of the walking/hiking and outdoor environment, staying in the park allows you to enjoy it even more without the daytime crowds.
