Yavapai Lodge East Building #5

In-park convenience, steps from the rim

(262)
Grand Canyon Village, AZ

About

Yavapai Lodge East Building sits inside Grand Canyon National Park itself, which is the whole draw here — you're not driving in from Tusayan or Williams, you're already there. Guests consistently point to the location as the reason to book: it's an easy walk to Yavapai Point (about 20 minutes on foot) and close to the general store, tavern, and dining hall, with an in-park shuttle stop nearby.

What to expect

Reviewers rate it 4.2 stars from over 260 reviews, and the picture that emerges is consistent: newer furniture, TVs, nightstand chargers, and in-room Keurig coffee, but bathrooms and carpet that show their age, with a few reports of rooms running cold or noisy. Self-check-in kiosks make arrival quick, though there's no early check-in or luggage hold at the office. Housekeeping gets mixed marks — most guests call staff friendly and helpful, but a few noted missed details.

Good to know

  • Location: Grand Canyon Village, inside the park boundary
  • Nearby: restaurants, general store, and Yavapai Point all within a short walk
  • Booking: in-park South Rim lodging fills up months in advance — reserve early

It won't win points for luxury, but for anyone prioritizing sunrise access and not wanting to drive in each morning, guests say it delivers on the one thing that matters most.

Excellent place to stay inside the park, you can walk to most of the destination or ride a bus. The rooms are remodeled, and the common area has that rustic look and feel. Inside the room the sink wash area is outside of the bathroom that is good if you have a big family. They also provide an iron press, locker, fridge and TV, and mattresses are a bit jumpy but I slept like a baby after hiking to Havasupai Gardens!!! You can also view the sky and be able to see the stars and planets that you can't see from the city. There is no microwave in the room. Overall this is a very good hotel or Lodge.

Location location location. Truly working waking distance of yavapai point and a 5 minute drive to the south rim. Rooms are neat and clean, dining is available on the ground, gift shop and the supermarket right there. Perfect access point to bus tours. No elevator. Ample parking. Price point was not terrible for the last minute reservation - literally the night before. I messed up my reservation and Ashley helped me iron it out and was incredibly kind. Cannot say enough nice things.

This is the first time staying at this Lodge at the Grand Canyon. We had a difficult time finding our building as the signs are not lighted if you come when it's dark, but luckily we eventually found it. My family and I were in the first floor. When we entered we were pleasantly surprised. The room was updated with two queen beds. There was a refrigerator that was nice sized and a view of the woods with lots of squirrels. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We had a small walk to the Yavapai Tavern where we ordered food and had a pleasant walk back. It is a small drive the the Village from the lodge. The only thing and I mean only thing is the bathroom fan sounded like it wanted to fall through the ceiling and on you lol. If you want a pet friendly place with comfortable beds and friendly service, please stay here.

Yavapai Lodge (East Building) is all about location. Being inside Grand Canyon National Park and just minutes from the rim makes it incredibly convenient for sunrise, sunset, and exploring the park. What We Liked: • Excellent location within the park. • Self-check-in kiosks made the arrival process quick and easy. • Convenient base for visiting Grand Canyon attractions. Things to Know: • Our room was quite noisy, making it difficult to fully relax. • The rooms are older and feel dated. They serve their purpose as a place to sleep after a day of exploring, but don't expect modern accommodations. • Housekeeping appeared to have missed some details. We found an old washcloth on the floor that had clearly been there for some time, as mineral deposits had formed on it. Would We Stay Again? Maybe. The unbeatable location is the main reason to stay here. If your priority is being close to the Grand Canyon, it gets the job done. However, if room quality and quiet accommodations are important to you, you may want to consider other options.
