Yavapai Lodge East Building #5
In-park convenience, steps from the rim
About
Yavapai Lodge East Building sits inside Grand Canyon National Park itself, which is the whole draw here — you're not driving in from Tusayan or Williams, you're already there. Guests consistently point to the location as the reason to book: it's an easy walk to Yavapai Point (about 20 minutes on foot) and close to the general store, tavern, and dining hall, with an in-park shuttle stop nearby.
What to expect
Reviewers rate it 4.2 stars from over 260 reviews, and the picture that emerges is consistent: newer furniture, TVs, nightstand chargers, and in-room Keurig coffee, but bathrooms and carpet that show their age, with a few reports of rooms running cold or noisy. Self-check-in kiosks make arrival quick, though there's no early check-in or luggage hold at the office. Housekeeping gets mixed marks — most guests call staff friendly and helpful, but a few noted missed details.
Good to know
- Location: Grand Canyon Village, inside the park boundary
- Nearby: restaurants, general store, and Yavapai Point all within a short walk
- Booking: in-park South Rim lodging fills up months in advance — reserve early
It won't win points for luxury, but for anyone prioritizing sunrise access and not wanting to drive in each morning, guests say it delivers on the one thing that matters most.

In the center of the park, 3 minutes to Mother Point. Doe strolling through the parking lot in the morning.

My room was 7103. As soon as I entered...the smell from the pit toilet was so strong it was unbearable. I brewed some coffee from the cups in the room and lined them up to mask the smell. Other than that, it was comfortable. The coin laundry closes at 5 PM? Isn't that a little too early? I couldn't do my laundry.
